Everyone has stuff in their life that they don't like. That 'stuff' threatens to push them down, tire them out, and knock them out of their rhythm. It could be anxiety, depression, or conflict with your family and loved ones. If you're here, chances are you're thinking about pushing back against that negative stuff. That's what the counseling journey is: a choice. A choice to push back against the negativity. I'm a counseling intern, and my approach is informed by my own decade of self-exploration. I learned that all I ever wanted was to be seen, and now that's what I strive to give to others. My approach is such that even in the moments in life that don't feel quite so great, you'll know when you're in my room that I see you and care about you and what you're going through. Sometimes, it's just that feeling "It's ok, I'm not alone in this" that can make all the difference in the world.
My approach to counseling is Person-Centered. That means that my goal is to understand you. In that understanding, my hope is that you feel safe and secure, and willing to boldly step out into whatever it is you want to work on. Empathy and understanding are things I continually strive towards so that you will know that I'm always doing what I can to better identify with and know how to speak into your unique experience.
I create a space in which all opinions are welcome, all walls can be dropped, and real healing can happen. My first step is to take whatever time necessary to make sure you feel safe. The second step is to make sure I do what I need to in order to understand you and your own unique background. Finally, we face whatever you want to in your life, together.
